Want to increase your conversion rate on your online store or website? A great way to do this is to get creative with shipping offers and pricing. There’s nothing more disappointing than visiting an online shop that you’re excited about, adding your favorite items to cart and getting blown away by the outrageous shipping cost. This is one of the major reasons that customers abandon the cart.
Let’s take a look at some ways you can get creative with shipping offers and increase online conversions:
Keep in mind: Shipping prices or free shipping is not a “one size fit all”. Some customers don’t mind paying for shipping, and others (like myself) dread paying shipping.
Option 1: Free shipping – Include the shipping cost inside of your product pricing.
I know this won’t work for everyone’s product/service, but it’s is a very straightforward way to help customers physically see the savings.
Option 2: Lower your product price and make up for the profits by adding a small shipping cost
Using this method, the customer usually becomes so excited about the deal they are getting on the high (perceived) valued item/service, that they don’t mind paying a small shipping cost.
Option 3: Word your shipping option differently
Instead of saying shipping try using the words “S&H or shipping & handling“. In my experience, when customers read this, they feel the cost is justified because they’re paying for two services.
Option 4: Free + Shipping Offers
This type of offer is becoming less and less popular in my opinion, because many customers perceive it as a scam. I still see lots of marketers using this method. This is when you make the item free & have the customer pay the shipping only. What I would suggest, if you decide to go with this method, is to be completely honest in your marketing. Surprisingly, being transparent goes a long way.
