The Simple Pleasures

Share:

I’m still counting down to my big day (birthday) and I’m grateful to still be alive and kicking. As I sit and reflect back on the years that lead up to the present, I’m amazed at how much I’ve changed. When we are younger, many of us tend to see the world from a smaller lens. We aren’t able to see the bigger picture. One of the greatest changes I’ve noticed within myself is how happy I am in my own skin and how I’ve learned to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

There are so many things that I’d taken for granted in my youth that I now cherish. Some of my simple pleasures are: quiet time in bed with my blanket and a book, or time to just think and be in my own head, long drives with nothing but the road and my music playing, or bath time with the candles lit. I now enjoy long walks and spending time taking in the scenery or spontaneous road trips with my family. I’ve learned to be grateful in every little thing, no matter how seemingly large or small.

Gratitude and taking pleasure in the simple things has changed my life, opened my eyes to the world around me and broadened my heart. Have you experienced a greater appreciation as you’ve matured in life? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
